BESAN LADOO

Besan ladoo...yes my all time favorite, quite tempting and one can hardly resist eating just one. My grandmother used to prepare the best besan ladoo's. I missed it so badly that one day I called my dad and asked for the recipe and tried it. It was just awesome this is how I started to prepare besan ladoo's. These ladoo's / sweet balls are made from gram flour, sugar and ghee. So let's get started...

BESAN LADOO

Ingredients

2 1/2 Cups- Gram Flour (Besan)

1/2 Cup - Ghee

2 Cups - Powder Sugar

2 Tbsp - Raisins

5-6 Cardamom

Method

Step 1

Heat ghee in a pan, then add gram flour and roast it on low flame till it becomes golden colour. Stir continuously.

Step 2

The mixture will absorb ghee and bubbles appear. Then you get the sweet aroma of roasted gram flour. It takes 15-20 mins to get to this stage.

Step 3

Switch off the flame add raisins and powdered cardamom. Let it cool completely.

Step 4

Add powder sugar to the cooled mixture and mix well. Start taking a big lemon size ladoo mixture and make ladoos .

Notes

I have used besan which is used for making ladoos, the coarse variety as it gives nice crunch to the ladoo. You can use fine flour or coarse flour which ever you like.

If you are using fine besan flour to make ladoos, then the time required to roast might vary.

When you roast the flour mixture you have raw smell of the flour when it starts to leave sweet aroma and the colour changes it is the perfect time to remove from the flame

Don't add sugar powder when the mixture is hot allow it to cool completely. Adjust the quantity of sugar based on desired sweetness.
