HURIGADALE TAMBITTU

  • Aug 14, 2018
  • 1 min read

Tambittu is a traditional sweet from the state of Karnataka, which is prepared during Nag panchami / Nagara panchami festival as an offering to God. This is a simple, yummy, and tasty recipe - prepared with simple ingredients...there is sweetness of jaggery and nuttiness from the gram flour which is perfectly balanced with flakes of shredded coconut and the ghee used makes the tambittu soft and melts in mouth.

So without wasting time let's get started...

HURIGADALE TAMBITTU

Ingredients

1 Cup – Hurigadale/ Fried gram Powder

½ Cup – Dry desiccated coconut

⅓ Cup – Ghee

⅓ Cup – Jaggery

½ Tsp - Sesame Seeds

¼ Tsp - Cardamom Powder

Method

Step 1

Dry roast Sesame seeds, once they start to splutter keep them aside. Dry roast desiccated coconut till it turns golden in color and keep it aside.

Step 2

In a bowl add roasted sesame seeds, desiccated coconut, hurigadale/ fried gram Powder and cardamom powder and mix well.

Step 3

In a pan heat ghee & add Jaggery. It melts and turns frothy at this point switch off the flame, and immediately add it to the prepared hurigadale/ fried gram mixture.

Step 4

Mix well to form soft dough. Take lemon sized dough & prepare TAMBITTU / ladoo.

Notes:

Tambittu mixture will start to dry as it cools. So you need to be fast in making Tambittu / laddoos while the mixture is still hot.

If the mixture becomes dry then heat 1 tbsp of ghee and add it to the mixture.
