Ragi Rotti means Ragi flat bread, it is made using ragi (finger millet) flour. Ragi rotti / Finger Millet rotti is one of healthy and tasty breakfast recipes of Karnataka. It is prepared same as how we prepare Akki Rotti, but we use ragi flour instead of rice flour. You can add grated carrots/ cabbage/ fresh coconut/ chopped dill leaves... Today I am going to share a simple recipe of Ragi rotti.

Ingredients 1 medium Sized Onion 1 Cup - Ragi Flour (finger millet) 2-3 - Ripe red Chillies 2-3 Tbsp chopped coriander leaves Salt to taste Oil as required 2-3 Strings Curry Leaves Water as required Method Step 1

Chop the onions, chillies, curry leaves finely and add it in mixing bowl. Add chopped coriander leaves, salt. Mix it well and add Ragi flour.

Step 2

Mix it well then add luke warm water little by little and make it a soft dough which is smooth to spread.

Step 3

Grease a pan with oil and take a handful of dough (small orange size). Keep the dough in the middle and start to pat and spread the dough evenly. Make a hole in middle. Keep the pan & switch on the flame. Cook on medium flame by covering it with a lid.

Step 4

Roast till brown spots appear and cook the other side. Repeat the same with the remaining dough. Serve it hot with coconut chutney / channa dal chutney and butter.

Notes

Adding luke warm water makes rotti soft else it might turn out to be little chewy.

Water required to make the dough depends on the flour and onions so I have not mentioned it. You will get to know when you are mixing, Add little by little water.

Grease the pan or banana leaf before patting the rotti, as it will be easy to remove and it also makes rotti little crunchy.

If you feel the dough is little hard to pat and move wet your hands with water as it helps in patting.
